Direct investments
Finnish Industry Investment's makes venture capital and buyout investments in growing and internationalising companies. Companies need capital for further product development, internationalisation, expanding operations, strengthening balance sheets, mergers and acquisitions and sectoral restructurings. FII invests together with private co-investors, for example with venture capital and private equity funds and pension companies. For international investors, FII is a local partner in Finland.
In 2012, FII made direct investments amounting to €22.3m. New investments focused on technology companies seeking international growth, buyouts and the mining cluster. FII made first-round investments in six companies totalling €14.2m and follow-on investments in 11 companies totalling €8.1m. FII exited fully from five portfolio companies and partially from three companies.
FII's subsidiary Start Fund I Ky made follow-on investments in five companies totalling €2.3m and exited from five companies.
